Recital Concert Report The Concert 1 I had to attend two musical concerts. The details of the first concert I attended include its location and timing given as under. GCC Music Faculty Recital, GCC Auditorium, 1500 N Verdugo Rd, Glendale, CA 91208, 4/25/2013 12:20 PM. List of Musical Pieces and Composers or Arrangers Musical piece for flute and piano Carnival of the animals for two pianos Bethany Pflueger, flute Theodora Primes and Peter Green, piano Onstage Arrangements The onstage arrangement at the concert was very good. The flutist had been given the center stage. On the other hand, the two pianists had been positioned on the left and right sides of the stage (the right and left sides of the audience, respectively). There was also an anchorperson of the program who introduced the instrumentalists. This anchorperson stood on the left side and a few steps ahead of the flutist on the stage. The flutist was behind the anchorperson but not out of sight. Description of the Performance First, the flutist performed a solo. Then, this was followed by the pianists performing together. After this, an orchestra was developed and they played a piece together. The flute performance was sweet, smooth and ephemeral. The piece that was played sounded like birds singing in the wilderness. The flute performance was ecstatic and soothing. It provided good therapy for the soul. On the other hand, the pianists were also expert players. They played together and remained in synchronization with each other. There was no one to orchestrate their joint performance. Still, they were at the same level and there was no phase in their musical performances. They played in unison and it was clear that they had rehearsed the performance for quite a long time before. Finally, the piece which was played by the three was also well orchestrated where there was no phasing out of any of the instrumentalists. They were well orchestrated even in absence of any conductor. The pieces which were played by them were original, and they were the composers themselves. They had composed the pieces ingeniously, and the work was really soothing to the mind and soul. While musical compositions were their own, it was not possible to track their respective names. About the Artists Bethany A. Pflueger is an instructor at Glendale Community College. She takes courses including Music 140, 144, 145, 147, and 152. Music 140 has no course materials. Music 144 also does not require any class materials. Music 145 also does not require any class materials. There are no class materials given for Music 147 as well. Finally, Music 152 is also a practice course .Theodora Primes is also a music teacher in the Visual and Performing Arts division of the Glendale Community College. However, she is also the wife of Robert Primes who is a television and film industry player. In addition, she is known as a great pianist (http://www.zacuto.com/castbios/robert-primes) (Zacuto). Dr. Peter J. Green was born in Newfoundland, Canada. He received his master's and PhD degree in music from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. On the other hand, his undergraduate degree is from MUN (Memorial University of Newfoundland) in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, in Canada. He is currently the division head of the Visual and Performing Arts Division of Glendale Community College. Additionally, he serves as the Director of Music in the First Presbyterian Church in Monrovia, California. He had also recorded a CD of horn, piano, and flute music with other musicians which was released in 2008 and sold across the world (http://seco.glendale.edu/~pgreen/) (Glendale Community College). Unique Musical Moment Unique musical moment was that the flute instrumentalist, Bethany Pflueger, was dressed to represent her spiritual connection with the instrument. She was dressed in all red while her flute compositions were also melancholy and romantic. This was a subtle musical combination where her sedative composition was buttressed by her appearance. She was dressed for the moment and the color of her attire supplemented and supported romantic composition she was playing in the beginning. The Final Musical Piece The finale was performed by the three instrumentalists together. It was unique combination of two pianos and a flute. In this composition, the two pianists were not playing the same piece. On the contrary, they had their own compositions which did complement each other but were not in phase by any means. This implied a composition which had three different instrumentalists. Then, it could be said that the second piano was there, but acted effectively as a third instrument. The final composition was rapid and enchanting. It was also there to excite the audience and provide them with unique musical experience. It was indeed a final composition which was aimed to take the whole show to its apex and then bring it slowly to its conclusion. This piece of composition has been a bit shorter than the remaining composition. This was a piece to make an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of the audience. This piece had the most significance in creating an experience from the concert. Accordingly, it was well composed and provided the ample opportunity to all of the instrumentalists to show their talent and art. It appeared as if the last musical piece was an impromptu; however, it was not. The Concert 2 The second concert that I had to Attend was the PCC Orchestra concert. The event had to commence on 27/ 04/ 2013 at the Sexson auditorium at building C of the campus. It was the First place concerto competition winner which is conducted by Michael Powers. The concert was to start at 8.00 am. List of Musical Pieces and Composers or Arrangers Flute and piano music Zoeys perfect wedding theatre Flute Peak concerto piano presentation Onstage Arrangements As occurs in other concerts the stage is the most attractive place in a function such as the PCC function. On the stage, the arrangement was admirable and appetizing to look at because of the coloring and lighting that was in the stage. This was very historical and made me look frustrated at first, but within the glance of an eye the stage was covered with flutist situated at the edges of the stage with the centre plate of the stage covered by the two pianists. The audience in their position occupied the centre position whereas the flutists were one on one side of the stage while on stage. The anchorpersons that directed the flutist and the pianists, and at first introduced the instrumentalists, were somewhere in front of the pianist but on a lower ground without hiding the pianist. Description of the Performance While on the stage and the crowd very anxious to know what the presentation is all about the pianists performed one after the other solely. The description of the pianists about the starting podium presentation gave the audience the moral to improve on their listening skills so that they can get more.. After the pianists were through, the flutist and the pianists joined in one rhythm with the sound of all the instruments bringing out a rhythmic and sweet performance that was smooth to listen to, and more so, it sounded romantic. The real thing about the rhythm is that they were the real composers and had practiced together for a very long time, leaving the crowds mouths agape due to soothing and soul touching musical performance. As for any orchestra, the people were well entertained and were left with a lot of feelings on the presentation that has made their day, and making sure that the starting has been one of the best as from the commencement. As for the instrumentalists and performance that was exhibited by the three parties, it was one to admire and give every person in the hall a sound feeling of sooth all over the body and was also very educative about romance. This could help in strengthening the love parties, and it was a very important show at the PCC orchestra concert, where it also gave the students a lot of experience in the good things that they have been learning. This was a very touchy cinematic orchestra that fulfilled the ambition of the persons who were to attend it. Although the cinema was musical, it gave the listeners the picture of the real message that was very relevant for them, and more so, to the students of the Pima City College that got a lot of knowledge to apply in their day to day studies. The Pasadena City College is an institute that offers both instrumental music and vocals, has a jazz band, and helps to acquire the knowledge of being able to compose a renaissance motet. The aim of this college is to develop leading appreciation of music as an art, improving the knowledge of the students both theoretically and vocally. This will lead also to better knowledge of the electronic instruments and other instruments. This will help students get exposed so as to improve their talents and profession. About the Artists This play is by Anita Adcock and acted by Mathew Lopez in the year 2009. The play is rich in the relationships, which lead to delusions of the persons in love about happy ever after. Mathew Lopez is a tutor of the vocals in the Pima City College. He is a masters holder in the University of Southern California in the faculty of vocals, in the university where he attained a first class honors, and emerged to be the top student of the time. Due to his ambition, his son, Lopez Junior, got the same talent and now he is one of the most famous film presenter, and in the television industry today. The play by Anita Adcock, is a romantic type of cinema, he did this while in the university, but it became a play, when he joined the Pima City College, where he developed the film for the students of the school showing the importance of the profession. Unique Moments of the Orchestra The orchestra is a place where one will get refreshment and enjoy his time. And this function was organized well. The pianists sounded very soothingly and soul uplifting, leading better morale the entered the hall. This gave every person in the audience a great opportunity to hear from the talented persons, because it was refreshing to the broken souls creating a sense of humor in one. For this case, the music helped figure all areas that affect human being giving adequate information, and the solutions that help the person solve the problems facing the person. Therefore, an orchestral is very important in our daily lives. The Final Musical Piece The final composition was rapid and soul uplifting. It was also there to excite the audience and provide them with unique musical experience. It was indeed a final composition, which was aimed to take the whole show to its peak, and then bring it slowly to its conclusion. This was to give the overview of what was happening from the start of the orchestra to the end of the orchestra. This piece of composition has been a bit shorter than the remaining compositions. This was a piece to make a grand finale to the occasion, it came in a manner as if it was the starting point of the orchestra leading to a better appreciation of the occasion. This was the last glance of the whole function, and it was touchy and more heart soothing than any other. For this reason, the audience looked at the stage like never before waiting to see the ending of the orchestras performance.
